The Ruhr Games are coming back!

At a press conference held today at Stadion Rote Erde in Dortmund, NRW State Secretary Bernd Neuendorf, RVR Director Karola Geiß-Netthöfel and the Board of the Landessportbundes NRW, Martin Wonik, presented the further developed concept of the sports festival. The Stadion Rote Erde is one of the main venues of the Ruhr Games 2017. The event was presented by TV host Arnd Zeigler.

New at the Ruhr Games 2017 is the concentration on three locations with a clear focus: Action sports and festival in Dortmund, international competitions in Hagen as well as the European Youth Exchange in Hamm. Again, many thousands of athletes are expected to compete in more than 100 individual contests. 2017 the youngsters will start in 13 olympic and four action sport disciplines. In addition to the competitions, there are spectacular sport shows, for example Freestyle Motocross and, of course, a cultural program for every event day. In addition, there will be events in Kamen, Lünen and Unna in the run-up to the Ruhrgames.

The Regional Association Ruhr and the Ministry for Family, Children, Youth, Culture and Sports are also funding the Ruhr Games together this year and are optimistic about the upcoming event. We will announce the cultural program of the Ruhr Games and the upcoming artists in early 2017.
